La Pedrera, from October 4, 2019 to January 5, 2020
Bill Viola (New York, 1951) is one of the pioneers of video art, an artistic movement that appeared in the 60s and that continues to this day. Video art works are based on video images sometimes accompanied by audio and take multiple forms: recordings, videos, installations that incorporate televisions or video monitors, etc.
This exhibition in La Pedrera offers an extensive tour of the artist's career, which has evolved in parallel to the development of video technology in the last forty years. The themes of his works cover the main universal issues: birth, death, pain, redemption or the passage of time, trying to introduce the viewer into an inner world.
