Museu Picasso, December 18th, 2020 to April 4th, 2021

"Je suis le cahier" (I am the sketchbook) wrote Picasso in 1907 on the pages of one of his sketchbooks, highlighting the importance they had for him. He filled up to 175 with his drawings and the Picasso Museum preserves 19 of them that are now exposed.

In these sketchbooks the artist investigated and experimented within his creative process. The drawings they contain allow us to better understand the artist's work and also expand our knowledge of his techniques and themes. In addition to the notebooks, the exhibition shows a series of works that contextualize them and that come from different institutions: the Museo del Prado, Calcografía Nacional, Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Museu de Montserrat, MNAC and Reial Acadèmia de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi.

Below you will find the recommended bibliography for this exhibition. It includes the catalogue raisonné, which reproduces the drawings of the notebooks thanks to a complex digitization work and contains articles by various specialists.
